Submission to the Symposia on VLSI Technology
and VLSI Circuits is now closed.

Dear Author(s):
Welcome to the 2007 Symposia on VLSI Technology & Circuits. We appreciate your interest in submitting a paper to the Symposium. Enclosed in this Paper Preparation Kit you will find all the necessary information and forms for the preparation of your submitted paper. The accepted papers will be printed in the Digest of Technical Papers as received, without opportunity for further changes.

For the Technology Symposium:
The 2007 Symposium on VLSI Technology welcomes submission of papers on all aspects of VLSI technology. The scope of the symposium is

---new concepts and breakthroughs in VLSI devices and processes
---new functional devices including quantum effect devices with possible VLSI implementation
---materials innovation for MOSFET and interconnect in VLSI
---advanced lithography and fine patterning technologies for high density VLSI
---process/device modeling of VLSI devices
---packaging and reliability of VLSI devices
---theories and fundamentals related to the above devices
---new concepts and technologies for VLSI manufacturing

As a new special session, "FOCUS SESSION, DFM/DFY Technologies" will be held on June 13, 2007, which consists of invited talks. Paper submission in this area is also welcome.

Your complete paper must occupy no more than two pages including illustrations.

For the Circuits Symposium:
The 2007 Symposium on VLSI Circuits will provide the designers of integrated circuits an opportunity to meet and present important new work at an international forum. The three day Symposium will continue the successful format and atmosphere established by the previous meetings, and partially overlap the 2007 Symposium on VLSI Technology, which is being held at the same hotel.

The scope of the Symposium covers all aspects of VLSI circuits, such as:

---digital circuits and systems: such as architectures, low-power, processors, ASIC, FPGAs, etc.
---analog and mixed signal circuits: such as A/D and D/A converters, amplifiers, filters, RF, interface circuits, etc.
---memory circuits: such as static memory, non-volatile memory, cache memory, dynamic memory, and new concepts in memories based on quantum mechanics effects, magnetism, polymers, etc.
---system architecture, circuits and building blocks for wireless and wireline, multi-media, and networking applications
---circuits, functional blocks using quantum dots, MEMS, sensors, etc.
---fundamentals related to the above, including design automation tools, innovative circuits and device structures

The emphasis will be on VLSI circuits. In addition to papers addressing transistor-level circuits, the conference also welcomes submissions addressing large-scale system level concerns as they affect circuits, including system architecture, system-to-device interaction in digital design, and the impact of technology scaling on performance, area and power of complex SoCs. Papers will be considered on the basis of originality and quality. Implementation in a semiconductor chip and measured results are not mandatory. They are required only when feasibility of the presented circuit is not clear by simulations alone, as in the case for most analog submissions. It is understood that papers in new areas are likely to contain less quantitative evaluations than those in more established areas.

Your complete paper must occupy no more than two pages including illustrations.

Submitted papers, which exceed this length, will not be accepted for review. Each page can contain about 700 words and two illustrations (assuming each illustration is two-column format). A page could contain as many as six illustrations if they are sized accordingly.
When preparing the final pages, please follow carefully the instructions in the Author's Guide and the Precaution to create a PDF file. Please avoid the use of special Asian fonts in the main body text, figures, charts, and tables of the paper submission.

In order to insure that your paper receives a complete review, it is imperative that you follow all the instructions.

Author's Guide that provides a detailed description of camera-ready paper preparation.
The paper must be in final form, and if accepted, will be published without any modifications.

Simplified Requirements for Creating PDF Files for IEEE Xplore that provides a detailed description for creating a PDF file in compliance with the IEEE Xplore requirements.

        -Acrobat Distillers (zip file)

75 Word Abstract
The abstract is a brief synopsis of your paper. It will be used by the Symposium Technical Program Committee in press releases and pre-Symposium publicity. The abstract should be typed in the Technical Paper Submission Form directly. You must enter plain ASCII text only, and you may not exceed 75 words. Neither tables nor figures may appear in the abstract.

Copyright Transfer Form
Copyright Transfer Form should be sent to the Secretariat if your paper is accepted. Detailed information will be given in the acceptance letter.

To revise your submissions
To revise an already submitted paper, you should revisit the Technical Paper Submission Form, enter ID/Password, and make your updates. You can revise or confirm your submission as many times as you wish up until the deadline. To cancel your submission, you should inform the Secretariat in writing.

Deadline for submission of papers is 17:00, January 10, 2007 (JST). We are sorry but due to review deadlines, papers received after that date will not be accepted for review.

If accepted for presentation, the content of the paper must not be announced or published prior to the Symposia. The Technical Program Committee will review all submitted papers and authors will receive notification of the Committee's decision around March 2, 2007.

We thank you for your interest in the Symposia on VLSI Technology & Circuits. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Conference Office at vlsisymp@ics-inc.co.jp (Japan) or vlsi@vlsisymposium.org (USA).
